Overview

The reports nobody reads usually take the longest to make. An ops manager spends Sunday night pulling numbers out of four dashboards and pasting them into a Google Slides template. A delivery lead spends Friday morning copying campaign metrics into a client recap deck. A founder spends every Monday rebuilding the same KPI rollup because last week's version went stale by Wednesday. The work is the report. This agent assembles the reports. It pulls KPIs from the systems where they live, generates the weekly summaries, preps the dashboards before the Monday meeting, drafts the client recaps with the actual data filled in, and surfaces the trend reads worth flagging. The output is a draft, not a final, a human still owns the interpretation. But the compiling stops eating the calendar, and the time saved goes to the part of the work that actually matters: deciding what to do next.

Agent Workflow

Step 01

Load the report definition

The agent receives the report request, recurring weekly recap, monthly client report, leadership rollup, dashboard prep, with the audience, format, and source data systems defined upfront. Each report type is treated as a versioned spec, so the same report run twice produces consistent structure.

Step 02

Pull source data from connected systems

The agent queries the source systems where the data actually lives, CRM for pipeline, project tool for delivery status, marketing platform for campaign metrics, billing system for revenue, analytics for traffic and engagement. Data is pulled fresh at report time, not from a stale cache.

Step 03

Apply the rollup logic

The agent rolls KPIs up against the right benchmarks: contract targets, prior-period comparisons, model expectations, leading indicators. The numbers arrive in context, not as raw values that the reader has to interpret against their memory.

Step 04

Identify what's worth surfacing

The agent reads the rolled-up data for what's worth flagging: KPIs moving against targets, anomalies in the data, trends turning in either direction, accounts where signals are shifting. Routine numbers stay routine. Notable numbers get called out.

Step 05

Draft the report in the right format

The agent generates the draft in the audience-appropriate format: client recap email for an external recipient, slide deck for a leadership review, dashboard panel for a meeting screen, Slack post for a quick internal pulse. Voice, length, and structure match the audience.

Step 06

Surface the recommended actions

For trends worth flagging, the agent drafts the recommended action: a copy variant to test, a sequence to pause, a metric to investigate, a meeting to schedule. The draft is a starting point, a human still decides, but the thinking gets prompted instead of skipped.

Step 07

Deliver to the review queue

The draft lands where the owner will see it: the project workspace, the leadership Slack channel, the email queue, the dashboard. The owner reviews, edits if needed, and ships. The agent doesn't auto-send external client reports unless explicitly configured to.

Step 08

Log the version and snapshot the source data

Every report version, the source data snapshot at report time, and the recipient list write to an audit log. Three months later, when leadership asks "what did the numbers look like in March," the answer is one query. When a client asks "what did you tell us in week 4," the exact draft is retained.
