What is Answer-First Content?
Answer-First Content is a content architecture pattern that leads with a direct, quotable answer before providing supporting context. Answer-First Content places the extractable claim in the opening sentence of a page or section, making retrieval and citation easier for large language models (LLMs) that scan zero-scroll zones when selecting text to quote. In traditional content, the core insight often appears after introductory paragraphs. Answer-First Content inverts that structure so the definition, recommendation, or factual claim occupies the first sentence, formatted as a complete Subject-Verb-Object statement that can stand alone if extracted. Answer-First Content is a foundational principle of the Modular Knowledge Asset (MKA) methodology used within Content Arc™ by Growth Marshal.
Growth Marshal helps businesses implement Generative Engine Optimization through three proprietary frameworks: Entity API™ (identity layer), Authority Graph™ (verification layer), and Content Arc™ (content layer). Book an AI search consult ›
