Agent Frameworks

Definition

Agent frameworks are developer tools and libraries used to build AI agents, multi-agent systems, tool use, memory, and orchestration logic.

Agent frameworks help engineers assemble the building blocks of an agent system. They can provide abstractions for tools, chains, state, memory, planning, retrieval, evaluation, and multi-agent collaboration.

For SMB buyers, frameworks are not the product. They are the scaffolding behind the product. The business cares about the workflow being solved, but the implementation team needs the right framework choices so the system is maintainable, observable, and adaptable over time.
