Model Context Protocol

Definition

Model Context Protocol, often called MCP, is an emerging standard for connecting AI systems to tools, data sources, and external context.

MCP is part of the infrastructure conversation around agent systems. It creates a more standardized way for models and agents to access external resources instead of relying on one-off integrations for every tool.

For Growth Marshal's audience, the technical detail is less important than the strategic direction. AI systems are moving toward standardized connectivity with business software. That means the companies with clean data, clear workflows, and well-defined access rules will be in a better position to deploy useful agents quickly.
